Alcott (Bronson) is born in Wolcott, Connecticut.

November 29, 1799

The son of a farmer and his wife, Bronson Alcott leaves home to become a traveling peddler, then a teacher in Connecticut and eventually in Concord. He moves to Boston to run the Temple School in November 1834, and lives initially at 3 Somerset Court. He marries Abigail May in 1830,* and moves frequently in Boston before returning to Concord in 1840 then moving to Harvard in 1843.* Alcott returns to Boston for a time in 1848, but lives in Concord from 1858 to 1877. Alcott dies in Boston on March 4, 1888.
